Understand Impulsive Behavior
Three key components effect all impulsive behavior and cause the most problems in building healthy habits and routines. Breaking these components down into skills allows room to progressively grow and develop over time. These simplified components lead to lasting impact that will revolutionize your life if you are stuck in addictive patterns of behavior.
01
Emotional Escape
Impulsive behavior stems from lack of internal emotional awareness that leads to emotional escape
02
Lack of Objective Reasoning about Behavior
Our thoughts are rehearsed enough times to create a belief and identity that reinforce impulsive behavior. These thoughts and beliefs reinforce the bad patterns and trivialize the importance of the new and useful patterns.
03
Traditional Conditioning
Dopamine is part of the brain's processes for conditioning behavior. Dopamine is one of the key components of all behavior and more so for the ADHD diagnosed brain. Dopamine disregulation reinforces behavior that is causing problems and disrupting the directions we know are important. We must develop skills to direct our dopamine to the highest aims.
